From 12th to 15th November, new products and trends in the medical industry were presented at the world's leading trade fair, MEDICA, in Düsseldorf. WAS provided visitors with answers to topical questions with two vehicle concepts. A special infection ambulance from Hamm fire brigade was exhibited, which was brought into commission nearly a year ago. The special infection ambulance was of particular interest to many visiting specialists because, with its built-in air-treatment system and the automatic disinfection system, the vehicle is able to transport patients with category-4 infectious diseases – e.g. Ebola, SARS, MERS, Lassa fever, etc. – in accordance with all safety regulations. The sophisticated vehicle concept also allows for deployment of the vehicle as a normal ambulance on account of the specialist equipment in the patient compartment.
The Mobile Medical Practice was showcased for the first time at MEDICA. A vehicle concept which is becoming increasingly important as we witness more demographic change. The inadequate access to medical care which is already being seen in many rural areas in Europe is could be ideally balanced with the Mobile Medical Practice. Doctors can easily drive directly to populations with limited mobility, with all the necessary equipment on-board. The vehicle is connected to the power supply at pre-appointed locations in the centre of the community. The doctor and patients can also make use of the available infrastructure, such as village halls.
At MEDICA, our specialists were able to discuss the adaptable development concept on the spot with a large number of visitors to the trade fair. In addition to the variant for GPs, the Mobile Medical Practice also attracted a lot of interest from company medical officers, professional associations, laboratories and physiotherapists, and also for basic medical care at major events. Because the same standards apply for the construction and fitting-out of the vehicle as with emergency ambulances, there is no need to make any sacrifices here either on safety or on workmanship.
