Ground-breaking ceremony for the more than 4,500 square metre production hall of the joint venture EMS Panels GmbH between WAS and Dülmer

Wietmarscher Ambulanz- und Sonderfahrzeug GmbH (WAS) and Fahrzeugbau Dülmer GmbH pooled their capacities at the end of last year by founding the joint venture EMS Panels GmbH. The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new production hall in Pliniusstraße 3 is now the next step as a manufacturer of high-quality composite panels and at the same time a clear commitment by both family-run companies to the Emsbüren site. Both partners are investing a seven-figure sum in the more than 4,500 square metre hall at the new site. Completion and commissioning are planned for January 2025. "We not only want to maintain the status quo, but with this capacity expansion we can also help to reduce the very long delivery times that have arisen due to the increasing demand for box vehicles for authorities and organisations with security tasks," says Thomas Dülmer, Managing Director of Fahrzeugbau Dülmer and EMS Panels. EMS Panels was founded in December 2023 as a joint venture between the two established family businesses WAS and Dülmer. The aim of the company is to be the leading manufacturer of composite panels in Europe, particularly for installation in box bodies for rescue and special vehicles. In view of rising costs, the joint venture is focussing on synergies by merging composite panel production. EMS Panels combines years of experience in production on the one hand and purchasing on the other, and is working with architect Michael Boyer from Boyer und Bröckerhoff and Anna Gerlemann from LG Industriebauservice as general contractors to realise the project. Realised by the local energy and plant construction partner EMT2 under the management of Stefan Völlink, the power supply will be covered by a photovoltaic system to the highest ecological standards in accordance with KfW 40 after the planned completion at the beginning of 2025. In combination with a heat pump and good insulation properties of the hall, fossil fuels can be completely dispensed with. "In terms of sustainability, we are also confident that this step will secure the production of high-quality primary products at the Emsbüren site in the long term and thus offer future-proof, attractive and modern industrial jobs in the region," summarises Dr Patrick Kresse, Managing Director of WAS and EMS Panels.

Both companies are particularly positive about the cooperation with the municipality of Emsbüren and the district during the planning phase, whose economic policy paved the way for the EMS Panels joint venture. "This foundation is another milestone in the establishment of industrial companies in the Emsbüren industrial estate," commented Markus Silies, Mayor of the municipality of Emsbüren, on the new joint venture and the new building. "I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this step and look forward to the positive development that lies ahead."
